Why Bastion Therapeutics?

Bastion Therapeutics is a preclinical stage biotechnology company with a mission to develop novel Treg therapies to address the unmet clinical need for inflammatory disorders. We leverage our proprietary platform technology to enhance Tregs to modulate the immune system and overcome challenges associated with existing Treg therapies. Our vision is to provide life-changing therapies that are efficacious, durable and safe to patients suffering from inflammatory disorders.

What are we looking for?

Bastion Therapeutics is seeking a hard-working and resilient Scientist to join our Molecular Biology team. The successful candidate will be part of setting up and building out our lab capabilities and will be involved in further developing our GRIT™ cell therapies. In addition, they will investigate Treg immunological processes through ex vivo and in vitro studies. They should have experience with standard cell culture and molecular biology techniques. The successful candidate is expected to help develop databases and SOPs, carry out independent scientific studies to generate high quality data to inform the development of the GRIT™ platform, and demonstrate critical thinking.

At Bastion Therapeutics you will be involved in:

  • Designing, executing, and developing novel CAR technology

  • Establishing and maintaining cell cultures

  • Setting up co-culture assays with immune cells and various other cell types

  • Investigating the phenotypes and functional statuses of immune and non-immune cells

  • Determining cytokine profiles in co-culture models

  • Providing technical expertise for assay setup, protocol optimisation and troubleshooting

  • Critically analysing data in a timely manner and presenting findings at team meetings

  • Maintaining highly organised and detailed documentation of experimental procedures

  • Collaborating and coordinating work with other teams to meet deadlines and goals

  • Staying up-to-date with literature and new technologies within the cell therapy field

  • Advanced knowledge of molecular biology and CAR technology

  • Extensive experience with CAR design and genetic engineering techniques

  • Advanced knowledge of T-cell biology

  • Solid understanding of immunology and cellular immunotherapy

  • Extensive experience in immunological assays

  • Extensive experience with flow cytometry (instrument setup and QC, tissue processing and cell isolation, cell staining for surface markers, cytokines, and transcription factors, acquisition and data handling, multiparameter analysis etc.)

  • Demonstrated proficiency with cytokine analysis (flow cytometry, ELISA, ELISPOT, Multiplex assays)

  • Strong ability with data analysis softwares such as Graphpad Prism and FlowJo

  • Excellent organisational and record keeping skills

  • PhD in Immunology or related subject or;

  • MRes/MSc or Bsc with either 3 years or 5 years of relevant laboratory experience; respectively

What we hope that you can bring to the role - Desired Skills and Experience

  • Previous industry experience

  • Advanced knowledge of Treg biology

  • Solid understanding of cell therapy

  • Experience with mouse models of autoimmunity and inflammation
